No matter what extension you have, the core-antivirus scans your device for malware. Extensions can also take over the default search engine, and change it to a custom or third-party. This problem can be fixed by disabling or removing the browser extension.

You can remove Google Chrome by following these steps:

1) Open the browser (Chrome. IE. Firefox).

2) Click on the Setting Menu > More Tools > Extensions

3) Select the McAfee WebAdvisor > trash from the Extensions page.

Open Firefox's Menu settings, and click Add-ons. Select McAfee WebAdvisor from the new tab and then click on Disable. Open Internet Explorer and click on Menu Settings. Select McAfee WebAdvisor from the new tab and then click on Disable.

Alternatively, you can also uninstall the extension via the Control Panel. Windows devices can go to System Settings > Applications and Features. Select the product you wish to uninstall and click on Uninstall. Restart the device if necessary.

Alerts can be disabled

You might be able to disable some alerts while keeping others. This option is available under the settings. These steps will allow you to modify these settings:

1) Load McAfee's Dashboard.

2) Click on Navigation in the upper-right corner

3) Click on the next tab to access General Settings and Alerts

To manually disable pop-ups, select Informational Alerts or Protection Alerts.

Hide Firewall Prompts

McAfee lets you customize firewall prompts. McAfee does not offer advanced firewall features and is only an add-on to the Windows Firewall. It can be turned off or you can rely on the default firewall.

You can set up notifications to be sent to specific apps whenever they connect to the Internet. You can also turn off notifications for individual apps and let the antivirus handle them.
